Articles / The Grave in Dablice
A few days ago I've been on the cemetery in Dablice once again in order to obtain a picture of the current state of affairs. On the one hand, I had to notice that my earlier assumption regarding the site of the future grave was wrong (some posts in the forum had already pointed on that). It definitely lies in section IV-9. On the other hand, the place at which the grave once shall be looks depressing, deserted and not very inviting.
Although the concrete pedestal already stands now, after all, the grave place itself is untidy and in a desolate condition. In no case is this a location where I feel a special nearness to Andrea or where I would like to be with her in my thoughts.
You find photos which show this place just like I have found it under "Gallery" (see photos 1 to 20). The photos 21 to 27 are illustrations of the grave of a woman, Nina G., also deceased very young, which represents an excellent example for me how Andrea's grave could once look like. On the last three pictures you see the still unoccupied parcel directly opposite Nina's grave. This is the place which I've considered being Andrea's future grave by mistake at my first visit, because to me it looks more lightly and pleasantly and by the proximity of Nina's grave less lonely and gloomily than the place actually chosen by Lucie.
A few days later, I paid a visit to Andrea's mother Anny who, since the death of her daughter, lives in the weekend cottage of Andrea 30 km in the south of Prague. She told me that around last Christmas she herself had put the concrete pedestal in Dablice with two helpers. The urn with the ashes is apparently still with Lucie, Andrea's sister, who lives near Pardubice and runs there a small restaurant in the meanwhile.
Anny served me Andrea's favourite tea (Hibiscus) and favourite soup (a Czech specialty with eggs and little potatoes). When I asked her for latest news about the sculpture she hunched her shoulders with an expression of hopelessness. The sculpture's completion still can take a very long time. According to her the responsible artist's reason for the delay is that he still has to process approximately half a dozen of other orders before he can start with the sculpture of Andrea. The question why this is like that remains object of speculations.
So for this time it still can not be said as of when the grave may serve as a memory place for Andrea. The waiting goes on. Meanwhile my personal alternative is the grave of Nina G., the young woman unknown to me.
